Port of Salalah container terminal reaches new milestone in productivity 2016-06-21
Port of Salalah reached a new milestone in efficiency and productivity reaching a productivity of 43.2 crane moves per hour on Maersk Denver and an average berth productivity of 177.8 moves per hour on MSC Eva.
Mr. David Gledhill CEO of the Port of Salalah said “In the highly competitive landscape of the transshipment terminals, I am very happy that every employee at the Port understands the need for a safe, speedy and efficient operation and endeavors to deliver the best possible productivity on each vessel. Such highly focused and coordinated team effort is essential is to ensure that shipping lines can maximize savings in the current depressed freight markets and increase Salalah’s overall value proposition.”
Mr. Ahmed Akaak, Deputy CEO of Port of Salalah said “I am extremely delighted by the performance. This record has only been possible due to the excellent team work and cooperation by each department and employee of the port. With several other initiatives already underway in operational and planning processes, we expect to continue to see an upward trajectory in overall productivity.”
On this occasion, Mr. Joseph Schofield, the Chief Operating Officer of the Container Terminal distributed certificates and the team had a small celebration.
