General Manager Human Resources

 

Port of Salalah – Oman’s largest port, a top global transshipment hub, and the Dhofar region’s largest private employer, is seeking a General Manager Human Resources 

 

A key executive and leadership role in the organization.  This involves advising and interpreting company policy, Omani labor law, and providing strategic direction for the human resources component of the overall management of the company. This position advises the EMT and other members of management on issues relating to employment, employee relations, compensation, benefits, and other areas of responsibility.  The position also oversees key administrative functions related to Human Resources and General Administration.

This position reports to the Head of HRD, and partners Executive Management Team (EMT) members on issues relating to People and HR processes.

The ideal candidate should possess a college degree in human resources, Business Administration, behavioral science, management, or a related field. A master's degree is preferred.

 

Experience: Requires at least ten years of general human resources or related work, with an emphasis in organizational design and planning, employment, labor law, employee relations, compensation, and benefits and HR core functions. Must have at least five years of managerial experience, preferably in the private sector.

 

The ideal candidate must have a strong business acumen and ability to understand the organization's strategy and align HR initiatives accordingly, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, demonstrated ability to influence and advise senior leaders on HR matters, strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret HR data and metrics to drive informed decision-making, ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with professionalism and integrity, proficient in Human Resources Information Systems and other HR software applications, must be thoroughly knowledgeable in various human resources standards in the areas of compensation, general benefits, employment and staffing practices, and organizational development, demonstrated leadership and management skills, able to work effectively with all levels of employees, including top, middle and supervisory levels of management, strong interpersonal and negotiation skills, collaborative work style, fostering cooperation and teamwork, able to exercise discretion and good judgment, with an ability to understand the effect of decisions overall in the company & excellence in influencing senior stakeholders, conceptualizing, challenging perceptions and expanding points of view while acting as the trusted advisor to Med Port Senior management team.

Job Purpose:

As part of the Commercial team of Port of Salalah, reporting to General Manager Commercial, Customer Care Partner will be responsible for supporting our existing customers and participating proactively in development of customer experience with alignment of business growth strategy of the company together with a team of skilled professionals.

 

Work Scope

·         Proactively Supports customers, solves their needs and pains in line with the business objectives fully and timely

·         Identifies improvement areas and focuses on building better customer experience in line with cross functional teams of the company

·         Builds a good understanding of customers and develops various initiatives for the better future of our customers

·         Communicates effectively and updates customers on relevant changes in the company

 

Key Responsibilities

 

Proactively build strong relationships with customers and gain an understanding of their business, service needs, drivers, and desires

 

Help resolve all customer issues and engage relevant stakeholders as required to facilitate timely and effective solutions

 

Proactively initiative and lead with improvement of existing processes, implement new ones, drive continuous improvement efforts to achieve greater departmental efficiencies in line with department goals, production targets, and government regulations. Understand and be familiar with local KPIs and strive to meet and exceed set targets.

 

Effectively manage contract logistics with existing customers, ensures professional arrangements and timely updates according to company policy

 

Support commercial team with tariff communication, implementation processes

 

Demonstrate leadership in collaborating and communicating with various operations departments and other support functions.

 

Reinforce our company policies and values within Customer Care and demonstrate those values in interactions with the customers

 

Proactively drive customer centricity approach with customers and participate in customer care project developments

 

Work together with team via usage of various tools to focus on Issue Resolution

 

Supports commercial team with sufficient customer performance management and budgeting/forecast process by providing required reports

Lead proactive partnership with sales team to resolve customer issues quickly and effectively

Proactively take ownership after sales closing the deals, ensure proper implementation and follow up on service execution

Proactive communication with other functional departments in the organisation to ensure customer satisfaction, ongoing support to commercial team

 

Who we are looking for

As for the skillset and experience, we are looking for:

  • Master’s or bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or equivalent
  • Over 3 years post qualification experience in customer service, being within similar role in a local or multinational logistics company is a plus

A key financial leadership position in the Finance-Procurement. The role covers procurement, tendering, vendor management, contract management, logistics and targets cost-effective and on-time delivery of services and products as per customer’s specifications.

The ideal candidate should possess a college degree (preferably masters) in business management, supply chain, logistics, engineering, accounting, or related discipline.

 

Experience: Requires at least 10 years of experience in procurement, contract and data collection and analysis and leadership experience in an international environment

 

The ideal candidate must also have a strong negotiation skills and networking abilities & the ability to understand the organization's strategy and align procurement activities accordingly, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, strong analytical skills, decision-making, ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with professionalism and integrity, demonstrated leadership and management skills, strong ability to understand the effect of decisions overall in the company.
