Chief Commercial Officer
Port of Salalah – Oman’s largest port, a top global transshipment hub, and the Dhofar region’s largest private employer, is seeking for a Chief Commercial Officer
As the Chief Commercial Officer you will drive the port’s commercial strategy, focusing on sustainable growth, customer-centric solutions, and profitability. Reporting to the CEO, the CCO will oversee tariffs, customer contracts, revenue initiatives, and stakeholder relationships while leading supply chain innovation, marketing, and team development to achieve growth objectives.
Responsibilities:
· Strategic Leadership:
o Develop and translate the sales and marketing strategy into actionable business targets, budgets, and plans.
o Act as the primary point of contact for key accounts, resolving commercial issues and maintaining service excellence to deliver outstanding customer experience.
o Lead initiatives to identify and develop supply chain solutions, integrating containers, general cargo, and liner shipping services.
o Oversee the management of Oasis Club focused on its profitability and its operational effectiveness
o Own the development, execution, and governance of tariffs and customer contracts, aligning them with business objectives and market conditions.
· Revenue and Profitability Management:
o Drive revenue enhancement initiatives and strategies to improve terminal profitability while maintaining competitive service offerings.
o Monitor and analyze commercial performance metrics, identifying areas for growth and operational efficiencies
o Ensure alignment of pricing structures and contract terms with overall financial and strategic goals.
· Customer Engagement & Stakeholder Management:
o Foster long-term, trust-based relationships with customers and stakeholders including relevant Ministries, Customs, ensuring effective communication and collaboration.
o Act as the primary point of contact for key accounts, resolving commercial issues and maintaining service excellence through an effective and focused customer care team.
o Develop innovative, customer-centric solutions that meet evolving industry needs.
· Sales, Marketing, and Business Development:
o Oversee the development and implementation of marketing, commercial strategies, ensuring alignment with corporate objectives.
o Develop and execute a robust marketing and communication strategy to enhance the port’s brand visibility internationally.
o Monitor market trends, adjust strategies, and identify new business opportunities locally and regionally.
o Direct pricing, promotion, and branding efforts to enhance the port’s market presence.
· Operational Excellence:
o Drive best practices in close coordination with the Global teams across sales, marketing, and customer relationship management.
o Oversee the preparation of tariffs, cost analyses, and comparative studies to support decision-making.
o Establish and monitor KPIs to ensure targets are met, sharing insights with the executive team.
· Team Leadership & Development:
o Build, mentor, train, develop and inspire a focused commercial team consisting of Business Development, Customer Experience and Marketing and communications, fostering a culture of collaboration and accountability.
o Create and implement succession plans to ensure long-term leadership continuity.
Key Interactions:
· Customers and stakeholders at various levels (shipping lines, land side customers, shipping agents both local and international).
· Internal teams, including operations, finance, and other functions.
· Executive Leadership Team
Qualifications & Experience:
1. A bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, or a related discipline (a master’s degree is preferred).
2. At least 10-12 years of experience in sales/marketing within the terminal, shipping, or supply chain, transportation industry.
3. Proven record of accomplishment in B2B Sales & Marketing with international exposure.
4. Comprehensive understanding of terminal operations, supply chain management, and logistics.
5. Strong stakeholder management and negotiation skills.
6. Exceptional communication, leadership, and decision-making abilities.
