General Manager Human Resources

 

Port of Salalah – Oman’s largest port, a top global transshipment hub, and the Dhofar region’s largest private employer, is seeking a General Manager Human Resources 

 

A key executive and leadership role in the organization.  This involves advising and interpreting company policy, Omani labor law, and providing strategic direction for the human resources component of the overall management of the company. This position advises the EMT and other members of management on issues relating to employment, employee relations, compensation, benefits, and other areas of responsibility.  The position also oversees key administrative functions related to Human Resources and General Administration.

This position reports to the Head of HRD, and partners Executive Management Team (EMT) members on issues relating to People and HR processes.

The ideal candidate should possess a college degree in human resources, Business Administration, behavioral science, management, or a related field. A master's degree is preferred.

 

Experience: Requires at least ten years of general human resources or related work, with an emphasis in organizational design and planning, employment, labor law, employee relations, compensation, and benefits and HR core functions. Must have at least five years of managerial experience, preferably in the private sector.

 

The ideal candidate must have a strong business acumen and ability to understand the organization's strategy and align HR initiatives accordingly, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, demonstrated ability to influence and advise senior leaders on HR matters, strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret HR data and metrics to drive informed decision-making, ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with professionalism and integrity, proficient in Human Resources Information Systems and other HR software applications, must be thoroughly knowledgeable in various human resources standards in the areas of compensation, general benefits, employment and staffing practices, and organizational development, demonstrated leadership and management skills, able to work effectively with all levels of employees, including top, middle and supervisory levels of management, strong interpersonal and negotiation skills, collaborative work style, fostering cooperation and teamwork, able to exercise discretion and good judgment, with an ability to understand the effect of decisions overall in the company & excellence in influencing senior stakeholders, conceptualizing, challenging perceptions and expanding points of view while acting as the trusted advisor to Med Port Senior management team.

Work Scope

As part of the Customer Experience team of Port of Salalah, Customer Care Officer will be responsible to provide exceptional customer experience and support to our valued customers. You will serve as the primary point of contact for customers, handling their inquiries, resolving issues, and ensuring their overall satisfaction.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Acting as primary contact for our customers pro-actively build strong relationships with customers and gain an understanding for their business, service needs, drivers, and desires
  • Be the owner of the customer issues and engage relevant stakeholders as required to facilitate timely and effective solutions to solve the issues, or requests
  • Manage and improve day to day process interaction with customers by leveraging detailed customer knowledge
  • Ensure smooth execution of the SOPs, by working closely with the customer as well as internal stakeholders focusing on improvements
  • Manage and maintain commercial contracts
  • Manage Customer registration and onboarding process with internal and external stakeholders
  • Arrange reports to support commercial team by working closely with internal and external stakeholders
  • Control and maintain stock of Supply Chain commercial giveaways and promotional materials, coordinate webpage related topics
  • To organize administrative tasks, order and, maintain departmental supplies and arrange for equipment maintenance, handle letters from government and external stakeholders
  • Proactive communication with other functional departments in the organisation to ensure customer satisfaction, ongoing support to commercial team
  • In general, actively seek out and act on continuous improvement opportunities both in relation to customers and internal / external stakeholders 

Essential Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Education: Requires a university degree, related field. Work experience may be substituted for education, with a minimum of seven (3) years of applicable work experience, and the potential to achieve additional education.

Experience, specialized knowledge and skills:

1. Proven experience in a customer service or customer support role

2. Experience in shipping, logistics, supply chain

3. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written

4. Strong problem-solving abilities and ability to think on your feet

5. Empathetic and patient approach when dealing with customer concerns

6. Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously

7. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

8. Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team

9. Forward thinking, planning and execution

10. Having an understanding and respect of others

11. Able to work with MS Office, Excel, Word, PowerPoint etc

12. Excellent command of English and Arabic language, both written and spoken

A key financial leadership position in the Finance-Procurement. The role covers procurement, tendering, vendor management, contract management, logistics and targets cost-effective and on-time delivery of services and products as per customer’s specifications.

The ideal candidate should possess a college degree (preferably masters) in business management, supply chain, logistics, engineering, accounting, or related discipline.

 

Experience: Requires at least 10 years of experience in procurement, contract and data collection and analysis and leadership experience in an international environment
