LCL Solution through Port Of Salalah by GAC 2015-02-09

GAC Oman and the Port of Salalah have begun working together to ship Less than Container (LCL) import consignments through the port. With this new service, the Port of Salalah offers GAC and the wider Omani business community the opportunity to take advantage of Salalah’s extensive connections to enjoy faster transit times and greater schedule reliability which, in turn, results in significant savings in logistics costs.

Mr. Daniel Nordberg, General Manager of GAC Oman, said: “The excellent connectivity and the comprehensive facilities offered by the port have led to Salalah becoming an important part of the supply chain and logistics solutions offered by GAC to its customers in Oman. We are thankful to the Royal Oman Police Customs team in Salalah for their excellent ongoing support to make this possible.”

Mr. David Gledhill, CEO of Port of Salalah said, “We are happy to be able to be playing its role in offering competitive and cost effective logistics solutions to Omani businesses, who have increasingly realized the savings accrued due to the direct connectivity, faster and reliable delivery more than offset slightly increased inland haulage cost, if any. We shall continue to work with the various stakeholders to identify and develop such opportunities which in the end benefit the Omani businesses as a whole.”

The concept has been well received by the business community, and with the support of the Royal Oman Police Customs, GAC and the Port of Salalah plan to extend the service, adding more in-country value to Oman and expanding its solutions to include various export-oriented customers nationally, regionally and globally.
