Port of Salalah connects with its community through sport 2012-09-05
Port of Salalah was among the main sponsors of Oman's National Football team in a recent match played against Egypt's national team played in Salalah on 15 August 2012 at the city's main stadium in Al Saada.
As part of the company's commitment to supporting its local community and sporting interests, the port distributed thousands of free tickets to all Port of Salalah employees as well as primary stakeholders among various departments such as the port security officials, and contractors and customers with regular interaction with port departments.
Among the estimated 7,000 spectators at the game, Port of Salalah was represented in a big way with the company's logo appearing alongside the field and mentioned in live radio coverage throughout the nerve-racking friendly game, which ended in a 1-1 draw.
Eleven children from the port's staff were invited to walk onto the field alongside the Omani and Egyptian national teams, and were given the latest jersey of Oman's team as well as a full sporting kit to take home.
As a further gesture of support to sport, the port presented free tickets to 30 young swimmers and coaches from Oman Swimming Team who made an exception to their busy summer training schedule to attend the highly anticipated match.
